Zaken and Matza to Face Fraud, Breach of Trust Charges

The Say Prosecutor's Office informed attorneys for previous Tax Authority chief Jackie Matza and former manager Shula Zaken of the Prime Minister's Office on Monday that it will seek indictments in the next few days for what is being called the Tax Authority Affair, which came to light in 2007. An investigation by the National Fraud Unit focused on suspicious relations between politically active businessmen and senior figures at the Tax Authority including Matza.

The prosecution rejected claims made by the defendents throughout a pre-indictment hearing. Both Matza and Zaken face a charge of breach of trust, as execute other suspects in the case. All the suspects face a charge of fraud and Matza also faces bribery charges
