Knesset Education Commission chairman MK Zvulun Orlev on Tuesday demanded that the Education Ministry's curriculum be instituted in all schools in Jerusalem - including those in Arab neighborhoods. MK Orlev made the statement at a meeting on the educational system in the city, held in honor of Jerusalem Day.

“Since students in Arab neighborhoods of Jerusalem have the same rights as students in Abu Ghosh, they should also study the Israeli curriculum that students in the Arab sector study,” MK Orlev stated. Currently, Arab schools in neighborhoods of Jerusalem added to the city after 1967 have no supervision over their curriculum, even though they are fully financed by the state.
