A Jerusalem court on Tuesday sentenced a police officer who took payoffs not to arrest illegal aliens to ten months in prison. He was found guilty on two counts of taking bribes, three of breach of trust, and three of conspiring to transport illegal aliens. In its decision, the court stated that "the seriousness of the actions and the interests of the public require us to impose a strong punishment that will discourage others, especially public servants, from acting thusly in the future."
