Bill Proposed Solution to Highway 443predicament
A bill was introduced Monday by Chairman Yariv Levin of the Knesset House Commission that would create army orders on access to roads subject to the review of a subcommittee of the Knesset Defense and Foreign Affairs Committee. The bill would prevent petitions to the Supreme Court against the orders, such as the one which resulted in the recent ruling that Palestinian Authority traffic could use Route 443 between Jerusalem and the Modi'in area.
Referring to the bill's 37 cosponsors, Levin stated, "The bill expresses a rare consensus, which crosses Knesset camp and party lines." He added, "This proposal will pledge that travellers on Highway 443 and other highways won't become sitting ducks for terror organizations.
