Ehud Barak Against Voting Rights for Israelis Abroad

Labor party Chairman Ehud Barak expressed his strong opposition on Monday to a proposal to give Israeli citizens living abroad the correct to vote in Israeli elections.

Speaking to the party's Knesset faction, the defense minister stated the party was opposed to people who have left the state to hold part in determining its future and its leaders. "In our opinion, Israelis who have tied their lives to Israel, are here and taking a portion of the risks and work are the ones who have to vote.
