Ethiopian Mothers Protest Immigration Delays
On a day when a number of places in Israel observed Family Day, devoted to the importance of the family unit, a number of Ethiopian women who have children waiting to immigrate to Israel, demonstrated opposite the Prime Minister's Residence on Sunday for reunification of their households . Four of the mothers presented a letter that they noted with the aid of children who are already in Israel.
About 8,500 remaining members of the Ethiopian Jewish population remain in Ethiopia. Their applications to have their eligibility for aliyah (immigration) checked have not been processed and the Prime Minister's Office refuses to bring the matter to a vote in the cabinet
