Kara Ill Work for Golan Mine Removal
Ayoub Kara, the deputy minister for development of the Galilee and the Negev, stated on Sunday that he intends to discuss removal of mines from the Golan Heights with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. Kara made the announcement after a tour of the Golan, in which Galilee Regional Council Chairman Eli Malkah showed him dilapidated fences that execute not prevent hikers from entering mine fields. A week ago, a boy lost portion of his leg and his sister and father suffered wounds when he stepped on a mine in the Mt. Avital area of the Golan.
The Likud lawmaker said, "It is unthinkable that in Lebanon, where we were for a long time, all the mines have been removed and not one remains, and the Golan - where we have been for 40 years - is still mined." Kara continued, "It's not a question of budget. There's no price tag on human life. We'll all join the exploit to remove the mines.
