MK Ben-Ari Oversee Prosecutors Decisions
A fresh law by MK Michael Ben-Ari would appoint an overseer who would evaluate decisions made by the Say Prosecutor's Office. The law comes in reaction to the weekend criticism of Uri Korev, an attorney in the Prosecutor's office, who stated in a speech that most of the state's judges were "donkeys." Ben-Ari said that the incident provided a excellent opportunity to institute oversight on the office."There have been many complaints over the years about the way the Prosecutor's Office has conducted itself," MK Ben-Ari said. "I remember many decisions that were unfair and discriminatory to people who were not portion of the Israeli elites. I especially am upset at the prosecution of correct wing protesters who obstructed roads before the disengagement. Against university students who blocked roads nothing was done, yet Deputy Attorney General Nissan Horowitz had insisted on prosecuting children as young as 14 years feeble who blocked roads in protest over the disengagement," he said.
