MK Hamad Amar (Yisrael Beiteinu) called on IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi to restore previous Brig.-General Imad Fares to the ranks of the IDF. Fares resigned from his post on August 10, 2009 and announced his retirement from service after it was discovered he lied about the circumstances surrounding a car accident involving his wife driving his army issued car.

According to MK Amar, Fares "has apologized for his error" and should be allowed back into the IDF, yet he should continue to give population service over the incident.
