MK Elkin Compromise Brewing on Voting Bill
MK Zeev Elkin (Likud) stated Sunday that a compromise was likely in a bill that aims to allow Israelis living abroad an opportunity to vote in national elections. The bill, originally proposed by Yisrael Beiteinu MK Alex Miller, has met with opposition from Kadima, Labor and Shas.Elkin said that a compromise was brewing, in which Israelis who had left the state within the year previous to the election would be able to vote. Elkin said that the Likud backs allowing voting for a longer period, as long as four or five years, providing the voter had visited Israel at least once since moving abroad.
