Milliband Tells Lieberman about Passport Concerns
British Foreign Secretary David Miliband urged Israel on Monday to co-operate in a British investigation into the employ of faked British passports in the assassination of senior Hamas terrorist Mahmoud Al-Mabhouh in Dubai last month. Throughout a 45-minute meeting with Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman in Brussels, the foreign secretary told his Israeli counterpart of the "profound concern throughout Europe" at the use of European passports in the killing.
The EU foreign ministers passed a resolution on Monday condemning the abuse of the passports and the identity theft that went with it, without mentioning Israel, which Hamas and Dubai's police chief suspect of involvement. Miliband told Lieberman, "It is necessary to state that Israel, in a certain way, of all nations, stands to profit from a Middle East founded on the rule of law.
