Ministers Freeze Aid For Building-Freeze Victims
The Ministerial Commission on Legislation decided Sunday evening to temporarily freeze a proposal to compensate those damage by the freeze on Jewish construction in Judea and Samaria which was enacted by the government in November. The committee gave the government two weeks to present the degree to which the victims will be compensated, and if not, the coalition will not object to the introduction of a private bill in the Knesset with the committee's blessing.
Member of Knesset Uri Ariel (National Union), one of the bill's sponsors, stated he was sorry the bill did not already have coalition support, noting that the coalition was accountable for the situation, yet said he was pleased about the government's committment to respond in two weeks. Knesset member Danny Danon (Likud), who authored the measure, said, "This farce has to finish as soon as feasible," noting that every day, the bank accounts of many households suffer the consequences
