Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu stated at Sunday's cabinet meeting that Russia was an necessary power and a friend of Israel. Netanyahu made the comments in advance of a planned trip to Russia, where he said he would discuss the Iranian difficulty with leaders there. "We value our relationship with Russia and hope that it will create a significant contribution to encouraging the renewal of negotiations" between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, Netanyahu said.
