Obama Appoints Envoy to Muslim World

In yet another attempt to improve America's image in the Muslim world, U.S. President Barack Obama stated Saturday that he wanted to "travel on a fresh path" with Muslim nations, founded on "joint intersts and joint respect." To that stop, he said, he was appointing a unique envoy to the Organization of the Islamic Conference. Rashad Hussain, Obama said, "played a key role in improving the partnerships I called for in Cairo," and has worked, as a deputy associate counsel in the White House, on security policy.Obama made the remarks in a videotaped presentation shown Saturday at the the U.S.-Islamic World Forum in Doha, Qatar. The Organization of the Islamic Conference includes 57 countries, and has a goal of promoting Muslim unity.
