Twenty detainees who were arrested overnight Wednesday at the Beit Furik junction east of Shechem when they participated in a protest sponsored by the "Shechem Seed Group" were released Thursday morning. The group held a Chassidic gathering at the site, demanding to allow Jews to freely visit the tomb of Joseph in the city.

In a statement, the group stated that it would continue its activities "until a return of the Jewish presence to the tomb. Mass arrests will not deter us from our activities encouraging a Jewish presence in the city." The group added that it planned to undertake a major renovation of the tomb in the coming weeks.
