Knesset Finance Commission Chairman Moshe Gafni stated Tuesday that the decision by Supervisor of Banks Roni Chizkiyahu to question banks to raise mortgage rates by 0.75% would create the dream of owning an apartment much more difficult for many young couples. Gafni said he had summoned Chizkiyahu to a meeting of the committee next week in decree to hear how he justified his decision.
