Shabak Rumors of Threat to Life of Police Chief fake
Last month Israel’s leading station, Channel 2, led off its evening broadcast with rumors that correct wing extremists were planning to murder the Chief of Police. The claims were subsequently repeated by most Israeli media outlets. Three weeks later Israel’s Secret Service, the Shabak, issued a statement admitting the rumors were fake.
The statement was made only after Adv. Aviad Visoly of the Organization for the Land of Israel appealed to the Shabak to respond to the rumors
