The torrential hefty rains that have caused at least one death and  gash off several populations in southern Israel also have filled reservoirs and are alleviating the national water shortage. The National Mekorot Water Authority stated that more than six million cubic meters of flood waters flowed into reservoirs last month.

Since the beginning of January, almost an additional one million cubic meters has helped fill reservoirs in areas where there were no flood waters throughout the entire winter last year.
