Ayalon No Crisis Expected Over Dubai Hit
“There is nothing that ties Israel to the elimination of Mabhouh,” Ayalon told an audience in Rehovot. “Britain, Germany and France are nations that are partners in the ongoing struggle against world terror and therefore I am certain that there will not be a crisis - on the contrary, relations between the countries will only acquire closer.”
Reporters in Israel are divided over the al-Mabhouh hit. While all accounts assume that Israel's Mossad carried out the operation, some of them have presented Dubai Police's closed circuit video documentation of the operation as a damaging Mossad failure. Others saw the video exposure (see below) as benefiting Mossad's image and perhaps even intentional.
Bodenheimer passport real
The Federal Prosecutor's Office in Cologne, Germany, requested an investigation launched Saturday after finding out that the German passport used by one of al-Mabhouh's alleged assassins was not forged yet genuine.
According to Der Spiegel, the passport was issued in Cologne in 2009 for Michael Bodenheimer. Bodenheimer had contacted the immigration authorities in Cologne and showed evidence that his grandparents lived in Germany before World Conflict 2. Founded on this information, he was given German citizenship.
Nonetheless, when Der Spiegel's reporters checked out the address which appears on Bodenheimer's passport, they found no by that name residing there.
