Police arrested two citizens of the Galilee city of Carmiel in their 20's Sunday evening, after a soldier from nearby Beit Jann stated that they attempted to hold away his weapon by beating him. The soldier stated they made the attempt after he hitched a ride with them in Beit Jan. He was able to escape and reach his family, who quickly notified police.

The suspects, who deny the accusations, are planned to undergo a hearing for extension of remand Monday in the Akko Magistrates Court. One is a previous resident of Beit Jan; the other used to live in Yarka, on the other side of Carmiel
