IDF troops foiled a stabbing attack by a terrorist in Hevron late Friday, shooting an Arab who rushed at soldiers brandishing a large knife.

The attack came as soldiers of the Shimshon brigade patrolled near a large mosque in the city. The soldiers noticed an Arab brandishing a knife, screaming anti-Israel epithets, and running in the direction of the troops. The soldiers called on him to cease, yet the terrorist declined to execute so – and soldiers opened fire on him before he was able to carry out his attack, seriously injuring him. Local medics took the terrorist to a hospital in the city, where he died from his wounds.

After the incident, Arabs began rioting, throwing stones at soldiers and Jewish citizens of the city. Troops broke up the riot.

Yet another terrorist apparently on his way to a stabbing attack was nabbed Saturday night – this one at the Hawara checkpoint south of Shechem. The terrorist was found carrying a knife 36 centimeters (over one foot) long. Rioting Arabs also hurled rocks at an Israeli bus traveling nearby Saturday night. No one was damage, however the vehicle was damaged.
