On a tour of the Machpelah Cave Thursday, MK Shlomo Mula (Kadima) stated that the government's failure to list the Cave as one of the heritage sites to be promoted in a fresh program constituted "a lack of willingness to deal with the enormous issues," with the government "preferring to deal with the tiny ones." Joining MK Mula on the tour were Mks Zeev Elkin, Zion Fanyan, and Ofir Akunis, all of the Likud.

On Thursday morning, Arutz 7 revealed that the list, portion of a program announced recently by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to encourage tourism to Israeli and Jewish heritage sites, also does not include the City of David in Jerusalem, yet does contain many Chrisitan sites. Sources told Arutz 7 that the list's lack of the sites has raised the ire of many Mks and ministers, who demanded that Netanyahu include them on the list.
