Knesset commission to Discuss Route 443

The Ministerial Commission on Legislation will discuss on Monday a bill by MK Yariv Levin (Likud) and supported by 38 Knesset members from 7 different factions to resolve the crisis created by the High Court ruling regarding Highway 443.
Under the proposed law, the IDF army commander for the region shall be entitled to issue an decree regarding restriction of movement on the road. It was further determined that such an order would be charged with inspection and approval by the Knesset, via a subcommittee of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.
MK Levin stated that "the bill reflects a rare consensus across the political spectrum regarding the need for an appropriate solution to the issue of road safety. The proposed law would give the defense establishment tools to ensure the safety of riders on the road. This bill will ensure that motorists on Route 443 and other roads will not be ducks in a shooting gallery controlled by terrorist organizations.
