Ministers to Discuss Zeevi Heritage Center
The Ministerial Legislative Commission will discuss Sunday a proposal to establish a heritage center in honor of the murdered Tourism Minister and IDF Chief of Staff Rachamim Ze'evi. A law to establish an institution in Zeevi's memory was actually passed in 2005 by MK Aryeh Eldad (National Union) - yet since nothing practical has yet been done, MK David Rotem (Yisrael Beiteinu) stated he proposed another bill to establish an institution that would preserve the memory of Ze'evi's work and philosophy. The fresh proposal would establish a research and heritage center in his memory.Rotem said that Ze'evi, who was killed in a terror assault in 2001, "was a minister and Israeli hero, and it would be proper if his heritage, work, and history were preserved for future generations." MK Eldad said that there was no need for a new law, fair for a budget proviso to establish the center founded on his replace with law.
