This year, the IDF and Terror Victims Remembrance Day ceremonies will include a unique one to memorialize Jews killed in anti Semitic terror attacks outside Israel, some of them Jewish Office employees.
According to Jewish Agency data, two hundred Jews have been murdered in anti Semitic terrorist actions in various parts of the world, since the founding of the Jewish State. Their names are carved on a permanent memorial that will be unveiled at the ceremony.
The Jewish Agency of Israel, the World Zionist Organization and the Jewish National Fund, Keren Hayesod and the United Jewish Populations (UJC) of America joined in planning the unique event.
Natan Sharansky, previous prisoner of Zion and present head of the Jewish Agency will be present, along with representatives of the other organizatons, including: Jewish Agency treasurer, Chagai Merom, Jewish National Fund head, Effie Shtantzler, Keren Hayesod Chairman, Avi Pazner, UJC Israel head Becky Caspi, Jewish Agency CEO Alan Hoffman and, JA Workers Commission head, Yona Bezaleli.
Goldie Orta, the daughter of the late Norma Shvarzblat-Rabinowich, who was murdered in the terror attack on the Chabad House in Mumbai, will also participate in the event. Norma, a Mexican citizen who had been traveling in India, was planning aliya to Israel with Jewish Agency aid, when she was killed in the vicious attack that stated eight victims and left the young child of the Chabad House family an orphan. Her daughter Joan, who made aliya in 2004, will light a torch in memory of her mother and the other victims of international anti-Semitism. (IsraelNationalNews.com)
