previous MK Slomiansky to Be Named Notable of Elkana
Previous Knesset member Nissan Slomiansky will be recognized as a notable member of the Samarian Jewish population of Elkana for his work in the fields of Torah and settling the land of Israel. He is the first person to be so honored by the Elkana local council.
Slomiansky headed the council among1977 and 1998, and also served on the Yesha Council, representing the Jewish populations of Judea, Samaria and Gaza. He was also a founder and secretary-general of the Gush Emunim movement, and has served in the leadership of the Jewish Office, Orot College and the Ulpenat Elkana girls' high school. He was a member of Knesset for the National Religious Party, either by itself, or when it was associated with the National Union (Ichud Leumi) or Jewish Home (Bayit Yehudi)
